Fishing is one of the biggest pastimes in Darwin and the Northern Territory. Below are some tips that are recommended to follow while planning your fishing holiday:
- Tell a friend or family member where you are going and when you plan on returning
- Bring plenty of water, fuel, first aid kit, spare parts and tools in case of an emergency
- If something goes wrong, always stay with your boat or vehicle
- If traveling off road, ensure your vehicle is equipped to do so and you have the necessary equipment if needed
- Always carry lifejackets, a satellite phone and enough food and water for those on board
- Clean your fish away from the boat ramps and away from the camp
- Always check tide charts before you go out
- Be cautious of crocodiles and jellyfish
