Darwin Beaches

Darwin has some of the most beautiful, scenic beaches in Australia that are perfect for a game of beach cricket, a picnic or an evening stroll to watch the Darwin sunset.

Swimming in the Northern Territory beaches is not recommended in the wet season due to the presence of box jelly fish, however some people do choose to swim in the dry season. If you do go in the water, take vinegar as a precaution as it is said that it will help nullify any jellyfish stings. Darwin does however have safe swimming pools, a wave pool and a safe swimming beach at the wharf.

Always wear a large brimmed hat, at least an SPF 30+ sun screen, sun glasses and drink at least 2 litres of water a day.

It is also recommended that you bring a good insect repellant as the mosquitoes and other biting insects are common in the Northern Territory.
