Darwin Train Travel

The Ghan began its train service to Darwin in 2004 from Alice Springs with a final destination to Adelaide. It takes the Ghan two nights to get from Darwin to Adelaide, traveling over 3000 kilometres with a stopover in Alice Springs for a few days as an option. The journey concluded at the Darwin Rail Terminal located on Berrimah Road just 15 minutes out of Darwin City.

Gold Kangaroo Service: Baggage Collection

If you provided details of your accommodation in Darwin to the agency you booked with, your luggage will be transferred directly to your hotel.

Red Kangaroo Service: Baggage Collection

Go to the Terminal Building where you will be able to collect your luggage after it is off loaded from the train. Your belongings will be transferred to the ‘Red Kangaroo Baggage Claim’ located in front of the Main Station.

Collecting your vehicle at the end of your journey

GSR staff will transport the vehicle owner and driver only to the transporter carriages at the rear of the train. Once your vehicle has been off loaded, you will then be permitted to proceed to the Station Precinct to collect others travelling with you. This can take up to an hour.
